New Zealand's Coolest Coffee Shop
+ Award-Winning Floating Burger Bar

Coffee Afloat is a coffee boat servicing Lake Dunstan and the hugely popular Lake Dunstan Cycle & Walking Trail in Central Otago.

Our floating cafe and burger bar are located halfway along the trail between the Cromwell Heritage Precinct and Clyde Historic Village and only accessible by bike, foot or boat. Here, you will enjoy one of the most remote coffees you’ll ever have, whilst enjoying a day out on this fantastic cycle & walking trail.

You can enjoy barista coffee, cold drinks, ice creams, fresh baking and now award-winning burgers, waffles and bacon butties all at the base of the Cairnmuir Ladder.

Grid Coffee's house blend is Columbian based. It's medium bodied and smooth with a rich, fruity flavour and hints of caramel. Yummy!

Story

Award Winning Burger Afloat

In September 2021 in conjunction with Eat.Taste.Central regional food competition, we launched Burger Afloat, sister ship to Coffee Afloat.

We were blown away by your support for our original Venison & Thyme Burger and are thrilled to say we won both the People's Choice & Innovation & Sustainability Judges Award. If you needed another reason to give us a try...there you go!

And in 2022, we won the Eat.Taste.Central Burger & Sandwich category with the Cardrona Baa Burger (Lamb & Sage), and Innovation & Sustainability Judges Award for a second year in a row!

Roll on 2023, and a new Burger has been developed in conjunction with the Eat.Taste.Cental event, kicking off on Friday 20 October - 12 November: Read more about The CBB here (scroll down).

Come along and try our award winning food. Check it out - Reviews have been through the roof!
